Chris Dodd: Obama's Vice President?

The Wall Street Journal profiles Dodd:

Chris Dodd's three terms in the House and five terms in the Senate make for a powerful resume of campaign and legislative experience if he's among those on the Democrats' VP list. And Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, will likely see the sweeping housing bill he co-authored set to make it through the Senate this weekend. His legislative background and the strength of his fund-raising from big financial institutions might also help him bolster a presidential candidate with weaker economic background.

But those connections could prove costly with some Democratic voters, many of whom feel little sympathy for the banking industry's current woes. Dodd landed in hot water last month when it was revealed that he appeared on a VIP list for home loans prepared by Countrywide Financial Chairman Angelo Mozilo.

Barack Obama's presidential campaign has requested information from Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd as part of its search for a possible vice presidential candidate.

The former White House hopeful and Connecticut lawmaker indicated Wednesday that he has been approached by the campaign. "There's been some inquiries, yeah," Dodd said. "They ask for a lot of stuff. I'll leave it there."
