Chris Evans On 'The Avengers: Age Of Ultron': 'Who's Ultron?' (VIDEO)

By all accounts, Chris Evans is kind of the best. "I wear my emotions on my sleeve," the "Captain America" star said during a wild, honest and hilarious interview with HuffPost Entertainment last year (he even flipped off our reporter in jest). "There's no filter."

Indeed there's not (here's Evans on the controversial Rolling Stone cover featuring Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev), which is why fans should have expected the exact reaction Evans gave when MTV reporter Josh Horowitz was the first to tell the star the title of the next "Avengers" film: "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Who's Ultron?" Evans asked in the video interview (watch above). He then repeated the question to his co-star, Scarlett Johansson.

For Evans and anyone else somewhat confused by this heretofore undiscussed villain: Ultron is an evil robot that was built by Henry Pym (a.k.a. Ant-Man). The supervillain first appeared in 1968, but was resurrected this year for a Marvel Comics arc called "Age of Ultron." In that 10-issue arc, Ultron destroy most of the planet and many superheroes. Don't expect the "Avengers" sequel to toe that line too much, however, as director Joss Whedon told Movieweb that things will be altered.

"Well, because there was a book called 'Age of Ultron' quite recently, a lot of people have assumed that is what we're doing, but that is not the case," Whedon said. "We're doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He's not. We're basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside."

That Pym won't appear in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" is far from surprising: Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" movie is set for release on Nov. 6, 2015, six months after the "Avengers" sequel. Whether that character makes a surprise appearance in "Age of Ultron" to set up the next film is unclear at this time.
