You'll Cry Watching Chris Hardwick Give A Touching Farewell To His Departed Dad

Chris Hardwick Says Goodbye To His Dad, And We Get All Misty-Eyed

Comedian Chris Hardwick's father, champion bowler Billy Hardwick, passed away last weekend. Fans of Chris, especially his interview show The Nerdist Podcast, are familiar with Chris' relationship with his father -- he even interviewed him about his days as a Hall of Famer in the '60s and '70s.

On Sunday's "Talking Dead," one of the TV shows Chris hosts (along with, currently, "@Midnight"), he spent the last moment of the show praising his father, and reminded his audience to never take their family for granted.

Here's what he said:

"I don't want things to get weird, but my dad passed away suddenly yesterday. I didn't know if I was going to come into work, but I like this job, and it was a nice distraction. I want to thank everyone online. It was one of the times that the Internet was... it was really nice.

The day before he died I had a really nice chat with him, and I was really lucky that I got to tell him how much I loved him. The holidays are coming up, they can be a pain in the ass, but I just want to say, your family is important and you should take time to appreciate them in the midst of traveling and all the crap that happens. Families can be weird, but just remember that they're important and they love you, and you should take some time to appreciate them. Rest in peace, Billy Hardwick. I love you, dad."

Excuse us, there's something in our eye. We'll be in the other room.
