Chris Kluwe: 'Definitely' Gay NFL Players Already, 'Somebody Will Come Out Eventually' (VIDEO)

NFL Player: 'Definitely' Already Gays In NFL

NFL player and straight LGBT ally Chris Kluwe said Tuesday that "there are definitely gay NFL players" and predicted that "someone is going to come out eventually."

The Oakland Raiders punter, whose new book Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies is out this week, told HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill that based on statistics, there has to be a gay player in the NFL already. And he hopes to create an environment where gay players feel safe coming out, if only because they will play better.

"The way I look at it is: how much better would gay players play if they didn't have to hide who they were?" he said. "I guarantee you: if you're trying to hide something when you're out on the field, you're not 100% focused on what you're doing out there."

Kluwe, whose gay activism has won him fans far outside the football universe, also made a bold claim about gays in the NFL.

"As a professional football player, whether you know it or not, you have played either with or against a gay player," he said. "I guarantee that you have."
