Chris Matthews: I Forgot Rod Blagojevich Was Black

"I don't know, maybe it's this whole post-racial thing this country is going through, but when I see Rod Blagojevich on TV I have to basically remind myself that, hey, here's a black guy," he said. "I mean, it's so weird."

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) - MSNBC talking head Chris Matthews had his audience scratching their heads again this morning after he claimed on-air that he "forgot [former Illinois governor] Rod Blagojevich was black."

"I don't know, maybe it's this whole post-racial thing this country is going through, but when I see Rod Blagojevich on TV I have to basically remind myself that, hey, here's a black guy," he said. "I mean, it's so weird."

While Mr. Matthews' latest comments set off a media firestorm, the TV host had at least one prominent defender, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev).

"I know what he means, because I, too, sometimes forget that Rod Blagojevich is black," Sen. Reid said. "He's very light-skinned and doesn't speak in a Negro dialect." More here.
