Christian Bale Speaks Out On Aurora 'Dark Knight Rises' Shooting

Christian Bale Expresses 'Horror' Over 'Dark Knight Rises' Shooting

Christian Bale has spoken out on Friday's Aurora shooting during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises."

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” Bale, who portrays Bruce Wayne in the film, said in a statement. “I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

Bale joins the likes of director Christopher Nolan, who broke his silence on Friday.

"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises' I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community," he said in a statement. "I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie."

With gunman James Holmes supposedly portraying The Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight," Ledger's father spoke out on the tragedy as well.

"We can't blame Heath or the character,'' he said. "I think that's the least of my worries ... I'd be more worried about the families and other people involved in the tragedy rather than anything else.''
