Fans of the late singer Christina Grimmie are outraged that the 2016 Emmy Awards failed to include her in its “In Memoriam” tribute on Sunday night. The “Find Me” singer was tragically killed after a man shot her at an autograph signing in Orlando, Florida, in June.
The “Memoriam” segment, which recognized fallen stars Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman and countless others, left out Grimmie, who quickly rose to fame after appearing on NBC’s “The Voice.” Fans tweeted out their frustrations after realizing Grimmie didn’t make the segment.
Fans were also upset that NBC executives failed to mention Grimmie onstage when “The Voice” won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show Competition. The late star was also excluded from the Teen Choice Awards in August after her name was used to promote the show.
Unfortunately, Grimmie wasn’t the only notable exception in the Emmy’s tribute, as many also pointed out that Chyna, the late WWE wrestler and “Surreal Life” star, was excluded along with “Ice Road Truckers” star Darrell Ward, actress Alexis Arquette and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White.
