Christine Mazzarella, Special Ed. Teacher, Accused In Sex Abuse Of 13-Year-Old Son

Special Ed. Teacher Had Sex With Own Son: Cops

A Tucson, Ariz., special education teacher faces sexual misconduct charges after police said she had a relationship with her own son.

Christine Mazzarella, 47, was booked this week in Pima County jail on four counts related to having sex with minor. Police told Tucson News Now that Mazzarella had sexual relations with her son on multiple occasions last July.

Mazzarella teaches at Lineweaver Elementary school in Tucson. Investigators do not believe she had inappropriate conduct with students at the school, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

In a statement, school officials said that Mazzarella has been placed on leave and will not return to the school. The alleged conduct reported by police could be grounds for dismissal, school officials said.

Detectives began investigating Mazzarella earlier this month after receiving a tip that she had become sexually involved with a minor.

Mazzarella's bail has been set at $10,000. She is due to appear in court Feb. 24.
