Mick Fleetwood thrilled fans on at a concert on Jan. 11, announcing at a Maui show that Christine McVie is coming back to Fleetwood Mac. He called the news "the worst–kept secret there is," with rumors flying since McVie joined the legendary band on stage in London last year.

McVie joined the band (originally founded in 1967) in 1970 when she married Fleetwood Mac bassist, John McVie. She quickly fell in line as the group's primary songwriter, keyboardist and singer. She's credited for writing many of the bands biggest hits, including "Little Lies" and "Don't Stop."

McVie left the band in 1998.

Last year, the famous songwriter began talking about the idea of heading back to the group. After the group's 2013 show in London, McVie went on record with the Guardian, saying, "I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them. I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted ... but it hasn't happened so we'll have to wait and see."

Bandmate Stevie Nicks was quick to respond to McVie's comment. "I think she's probably been asked five million times to come back to the band, by all of us. By every one one of us. And she has said, in no uncertain terms, 'No. No. Absolutely not. No way,'" Nicks told Billboard. "If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, 'It's your band. I don't really think you have to ask. Because it's your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?"

Apparently, McVie has finally had a change of heart.

Fleetwood Mac's publicist officially confirmed through Billboard that McVie has rejoined the band with hopes to announce a 2014 tour.

The rock band canceled a portion of their world tour last year when John McVie, Christine's now ex–husband, was diagnosed with cancer. The bassist has been undergoing treatment and surgery and the band is optimistic about a quick recovery for both McVie and the band.
