Chuck Norris Endorses Newt Gingrich For President

On the eve of the South Carolina primary, action star and Internet phenomenon Chuck Norris endorsed Newt Gingrich for the presidential nomination.

Norris expressed his support for Gingrich in a Friday column on conservative website World Net Daily. "We believe Newt’s experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days," Norris wrote. "And he is the best man left on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his campaign machine."

The actor, who endorsed Mike Huckabee in the last presidential cycle, had previously expressed his admiration for Ron Paul. In aninterview with Glenn Beck last May, Norris praised Paul as "one of the more honest men in Washington."

In recent years, Norris has been the subject of an Internet meme -- " known as Chuck Norris facts" -- that posit the no-nonsense action star as the toughest man alive. (Sample: "Chuck Norris doesn't sleep; he waits.)
