Colts coach Chuck Pagano has a vision. With another win, Andrew Luck and the upstart Indianapolis Colts (5-3) are making it a reality.
Pagano, who is not with the team as he undergoes chemotherapy treatments for leukemia, was at Lucas Oil Stadium to watch his Colts come out on top against the Miami Dolphins 23-20. After the narrow victory, Pagano delivered an emotional postgame speech in the locker room that even included an F-bomb.
"I mentioned before the game that you guys were living in a vision and you weren't living in circumstances. Because you know where they had us in the beginning. Every last one of them. But you refused to live in circumstances and you decided consciously, as a team, and as a family, to live in a vision. And that's why you bring things home like you brought home today. That's why you're already champions, and well on your way. I got circumstances. You guys understand it. I understand it. It's already beat. It's already beat. My vision that I'm living, see two more daughters getting married, dancing at their weddings, and then hoisting that Lombardi several times and watch that confetti fall on this fucking group right here. Several times, we're going to hoist that baby. I'm dancing at two more weddings. And we're hoisting that trophy together man. Congratulations."
Pagano had been released from Indiana University Health Simon Cancer Center two weeks ago, just in time to watch the Colts beat the Browns. The Colts' victory over the Dolphins was the first game he actually attended since getting diagnosed with leukemia on September 26.
Colts owner Jim Irsay first announced that Pagano would be in attendance on Friday via Twitter. Albert Breer of NFL.com confirmed Pagano's presence on Sunday morning.
Not only did Pagano see his team come from behind and win, but he also got to see his prized rookie quarterback break the single-game NFL record for most passing yards by a first-year player with 433.
The Colts are now 5-3 and travel to Jacksonville in Week 10.
