Chuck Todd To Interview President Obama For First 'Meet The Press' Broadcast

Chuck Todd's First Interview For 'Meet The Press' Is A Big One

Chuck Todd will interview President Barack Obama for his first broadcast as the new host of NBC's "Meet The Press," NBC announced Thursday night.

The interview, set to take place on Saturday, was announced during NBC's airing of the NFL season opener between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers. A release from the network said the interview was to cover the threat of ISIS, the role of the U.S. in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Ebola outbreak, as well as the upcoming midterm elections.

Todd was named as the replacement for David Gregory, whose 20 years with the network came to an end with his departure from "Meet The Press". Todd stepped into the role from his previous position as NBC's chief White House correspondent and host of MSNBC's "Daily Rundown." Todd remains NBC's political director, in addition to moderating "Meet The Press."

The presidential interview on Todd's inaugural broadcast comes as NBC seeks to revitalize its political commentary program following an abundance of poor ratings and criticism received during Gregory's time as host.
