Chuck Todd: Susan Rice 'Victim' Of Conservative Media 'Attacks' (VIDEO)

NBC's Chuck Todd said on Thursday that Susan Rice's scotched bid to become the secretary of state was due to attacks from "conservative" and "advocacy media."

Rice withdrew her name from consideration for the post on Thursday, acknowledging that the ongoing Republican intransigence to her potential nomination had doomed her candidacy.

Speaking to MSNBC's Martin Bashir, Todd said that Rice had become a victim of conservative attacks about her statements regarding the scandal in Benghazi.

"It was all driven, in many cases, by some conservative outlets who were making her the center of the Benghazi story, when there were legitimate questions to ask about the Benghazi story, but the idea that she belonged in the center of those attacks never made a lot of sense," he said. "She sort of became a victim of this ... there is now advocacy journalism or media - journalism is not the right word, advocacy media, that, I think, that in particularly base Republican politics, that they're very sensitive to and elected officials become very reactive to it."
