Strange Man 'Proposes' To Chvrches Singer, Is Immediately Shut Down

"Marry me!" yelled some dude from the audience at a Chvrches show, while the band took a breather onstage.

"Pardon?" lead singer Lauren Mayberry inquired.

"Marry me! Now!" the anonymous speaker demanded. The frontwoman, however, was in no mood to play along that night -- one of dozens of shows lined up for the Scottish electronic group's world tour -- and quickly shut him down.

"Oh, oh, come on. What's the hit rate on that?" she shot back. "When you go to public places and ask women you don't know if they want to wed you? Does that work out well for you, sir?"

"And also, I assume, because you're here, you know a bit about our band. And I'm very grumpy. I don't want that shit," Mayberry went on, to cheers from the crowd.

"Thank you, everybody else -- sorry to shame that one person. If nobody tells you, you're never gonna know! And luckily for me right now, I have a microphone, and you don't. So it works in my favor at this particular juncture."

If only we all had microphones in hand when strange men yelled things at us from a distance.
