Innovation Is The Key To Change In These Major Cities

Innovation Is The Key To Change In These Major Cities

For the first time in human history, 50 percent of the world's population lives in cities. The United Nations estimates that by 2050, two in three humans, or 6.3 billion people will reside in urban areas.

With urbanization come enormous challenges but also many new opportunities. How cities harness the digitization and globalization of the global economy to address issues like crime, unemployment and climate change will increasingly shape the prospects for human progress.

"Innovation and the City, Part II," a recent study created by the Center for an Urban Future and New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service with support from Citi, highlights 25 unique policies and programs from a diverse group of cities that tackle a myriad of urban challenges.

Check out the slide show below for details about the innovative programs being implemented in cities around the world.
