According to the World Bank, globally, 54 percent of the population lives in urban areas today, and this trend is expected to continue. At the same time, cities account for more than 70 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions states the UN.
Accordingly, the cities play a vital role, when taking actions on climate change.
And this is exactly what the C40 Cities - a network of the world's megacities committed to addressing climate change - do:
As one concrete action, the two C40 cities of Vancouver and Copenhagen, reached out for dialog and collaboration with private companies that can show concrete solutions to support sustainability.
At Grundfos, we are proud to take part in this dialog and collaboration.
Therefore, this weekend at the COP21 we were taking part in the launch of the "City Solutions Platform" with the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen and the Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson.
Indeed, we feel encouraged to take active part in this valuable dialog together with the C40-cities, but also with other private companies, the cleantech networks CLEAN and ICN besides Realdania.
With this initiative, we can move even closer in the dialog on needs and solutions and accordingly we might be able to speed up actions addressing challenges not only on energy, but likewise on water.
For the benefit of cities, society as well as for green growth.
