Apparently, people in certain parts of the country are way more into barre class than others.
In newly released data, fitness class subscription service company ClassPass has revealed which fitness classes are most popular in which parts of the country. In New York City, cycling reigns supreme, while Southeastern cities seem to prefer barre classes. The Southwest prefers Pilates, while Midwestern cities Chicago and St. Louis and nearby neighbor Nashville focus on strength training. Portland and Philadelphia are into yoga.
Other findings from ClassPass included average workout times across the country: Those living in the Southeast are the earliest risers, while people in the Northeast seem to work out more in the evenings.
According to the American College of Sports Medicine, strength training and yoga are among the top fitness trends of the year, as well as the type of core training emphasized in Pilates and barre classes.
Personally, we love switching up our workouts — something that Selena Gomez's trainer actually says is a good thing.
