JetBlue Pilot To Plead Insanity

Clayton Osbon, the JetBlue captain who experienced a mid-air meltdown on March 27, has plans to plead insanity in a Texas court, according to reports.

In a motion filed Wednesday, Osbon's attorneys alerted federal prosecutors that Osbon will state he was insane at the time of his meltdown, the Amarillo Globe News reports.

On March 28, Osbon was charged with interference with a flight crew or attendants, an offense that could lead to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors asked Osbon to undergo a psychological exam to determine if he was legally sane at the time of the incident. A Texas grand jury indicted the captain of the same charge on April 12.

JetBlue CEO Dave Barger told CBS earlier this month that the airline will help Osbon and his family "in whatever their needs may be." Osbon, a 12-year veteran with JetBlue, was suspended by the airline following the incident.
