How To Clean Your Pots And Pans

And your kitchen appliances too!

Cooking is a messy endeavor. With fire and oil involved, there's bound to be causalities. Sometimes it's your dinner, other times it's in your kitchen sink.

When the mess ends up on the bottom of your stainless steel pots and pans, many of us tend not to care too much. But after a while, those silver-colored pans have become many shades closer to brown.

You might be tempted to throw out your black-bottom cookware, but there's no need. You can clean them to look like new with something you've got stashed in the cupboard: cream of tartar (that is, so long as you're a baker).

When you mix cream of tartar with hot water (about 1 Tbs with a couple drops of water) you get a cleaning solution that very nearly dissolves those hard-to-clean spots. Sure, you still need to put a little effort into it, but you'll be surprised at how easily grease stains give way. Cream of tartar works on metal appliances too, like toasters, tea kettles and coffee makers.
