WASHINGTON ― Priorities USA, a pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC, is launching a new digital ad aimed at Latinos in the battleground states of Florida, Nevada and Colorado.
The six-figure buy, which puts a spotlight on Donald Trump’s negative comments about Latinos in the U.S., will be featured on Instagram, Facebook and as pre-roll for online videos. It’s titled “Our Country,” or “Nuestro Pais,” and will run in both English and Spanish.
The 30-second spot features Careliz, a resident of Homestead, Florida, and the mother of two sons who served in the military.
“To hear the things that Donald Trump says, it just disgusts me,” Careliz says. “And when Donald Trump says we don’t deserve to live here, it’s just a slap in the face.”
The ad plays a clip of Trump attacking federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s ability to preside over lawsuits against Trump University due to his Mexican heritage. Next, it shows video of Trump at one of his rallies.
“This is a country were we speak English, not Spanish,” Trump is seen saying in the ad.
“Donald Trump has repeatedly demeaned millions of Americans with bigoted insults and name calling,” Justin Barasky, spokesman for Priorities USA, said in a statement. “He has questioned an American judge of Mexican descent and even threatened to form a deportation force that would tear families apart and send our economy into a tailspin. Rather than electing a president who seeks to divide us, we need a president who unites us, and honors all Americans.”
