Clyde Harshaw Kidnapped Girlfriend, Tortured Her With Drill: Cops

Man Tortured Girlfriend With Drill For Days: Cops

An Oklahoma man is accused of holding his girlfriend captive and torturing her with an electric drill.

Clyde Harshaw, 42, was arrested charged with kidnapping, assault and battery, maiming and rape by instrumentation, the McAlester News-Capital reported.

Harshaw's girlfriend said that in early July, Harshaw drugged her and tied her up with rope and extension cords at his McAlester home.

He then allegedly held her captive for five days, beating her with a hammer, cutting her with a knife, pouring acid on her wounds and pulling her hair out using a drill, according to News 9.

"She alleged that he had taken a drill, with a bit still on it, put it at her head and turn the drill on. The hair would catch up in the drill and pull patches of hair out," Sheriff Joel Kerns told the station.

On July 10, she said she escaped while Harshaw was busy setting her clothes on fire. A passerby picked her up and brought her to law enforcement officials. Harshaw was arrested two days later.

Sheriff Joel Kerns told KTUL that this was one of the most extreme cases he's ever seen.

The woman told authorities that Harshaw kidnapped her because she told him she stopped buying him an ingredient for making meth.

Harshaw, who is being held without bond, is due in court Aug. 1.
