CNN Guests Battle It Out Over Ferguson And Police Violence

CNN Guests Battle Over Ferguson

Things got a little heated on CNN's "Reliable Sources" on Sunday. In light of the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, Brian Stelter tried to host a conversation about the different ways white and black Americans discuss race.

Joined by Crystal Wright, founder of the Conservative Black Chick blog, and Elon James White of This Week in Blackness, the debate escalated quickly when Wright attempted to move the conversation away from police violence against black men and toward the "real epidemic" of "young black men killing other young black men."

When White balked, calling Wright "ma'am" and saying she had been "talking for a minute," things got fiery.

"Don't call me ma'am, Elon," Wright said. "You were talking longer than me!"

Stelter eventually had to step in to allow White an opportunity to speak.

"Let's be real real here, okay?" White said. "The fact is when a cop kills a young black man -- unarmed -- it's a bit different than violence happening within the neighborhood. And to pretend that it's anything else is disingenuous at best."
