CNN Touts Ratings Growth For Summer 2013

CNN Touts Growth

CNN is pretty happy about its performance this summer. In a report on Wednesday, Turner Broadcasting touted the network's ratings growth in recent months.

From May 27 to August 18, the network was up 26 percent among total viewers during total day and 37 percent in the key 25-54 demographic. It managed to beat MSNBC in both categories.

The summer ratings reflected the trends for each network during recent months. CNN, helped by breaking news like the Boston Marathon bombings, trials for Jodi Arias and George Zimmerman and events in the Middle East, was up during the second quarter of 2013.

CNN still faces some challenges, though. It remained in third place behind MSNBC in total viewers and in the demo during primetime, according to Variety. Fox News was on top with an average of 1.85 million total viewers, followed by MSNBC with 540,000 and CNN with 533,000. In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 272,000 viewers, trailed by MSNBC with 186,000 and CNN 178,000.
