Cobie Smulders could show up in the "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series in the works at ABC.

While the "How I Met Your Mother" star played coy with iamROGUE.com about whether or not she'll pop up as Maria Hill, she did hint at the possibility.

"The commitments to ['How I Met Your Mother'] don’t affect it," Smulders said. "And I can’t really say, but there are definite talks about it."

Smulders will reprise her role of Maria Hill in "Captain America: The Winter Solider" before resuming duties in "The Avengers 2."

The "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV pilot, directed by Joss Whedon, is currently in the works at ABC. Clark Gregg is returning to his role of Agent Coulson for the "S.H.I.E.L.D." alongside "ER" veteran Ming Na-Wen. "It's new characters. It needs to be its own thing," Whedon said in September. "It needs to be adjacent [to the MCU] but you don't want to do a show where you're constantly going, 'Iron Man just left, but he was totally here a minute ago.'"

The TV series would be set in "The Avengers" and Marvel movie universes. ABC president Paul Lee said the project is still in pilot phase, but Whedon is working on material should it make it to series.

“He’s already working on the scripts for the series," Lee told CraveOnline. “We shot it in Los Angeles to make sure that he is free to work across his feature life and his television life, but I love to see Joss -- who, of course, has made many great television shows in his day -- enjoying television as much as movies. That’s flattering for us. We love that.”

"S.H.I.E.L.D." co-writer Maurissa Tancharoen has been providing filming updates on her Twitter account.
