On Sunday May 7th, 2017, the cocktail & spirit tasting adventure is back in action at the 2nd Annual NY Cocktail Expo Long Island. The third show for the EXPO comes after a sold out crowd in Queens with a galant return to the “thirstful” island where a cocktail and craft spirit boom have emerged. Indoors at the legendary Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall in Wantagh, New York’s Premier Spirit & Cocktail Exhibition, the NY Cocktail EXPO will bring all the tastes and feels. With the continuing rise & popularity of craft spirits, this is the ultimate cocktail crawl and largest spirt showcase in the area. It’s a tasting spree of the best cocktail bars on Long Island and craft distilleries all under one roof!
Along with cocktail enthusiasts looking to find the best bars and spirits, the Expo has become a place to try new and exciting drinking concoctions while bartenders and industry minded guests taste spirits and mingle about the mixology “street fair,” meeting distillers and upping their craft cocktail game.
Here are some of the top craft cocktail bars scheduled to throw down!
The Rust & Gold: Huntington
R&G is paired with Beverage Director Frank Antonetti who has a reputation of turning out some of the best craft cocktails the Island has seen. With 10 taps that include craft beer, cold brew coffee and wine, along with some mad good eats, Huntington Village is lucky to have this bar right in their backyard.
The Brixton: Babylon
Cocktail Program Manager, Bill Carlo returns to the NY Cocktail Expo with refined taste and poise. “The Duster” is a Japanese American Whiskey Sour with Johnny Smoking Gun, an American Whiskey made to compliment the umami of Japanese cuisine. It’s made with Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur and New York Maple Syrup. Look to the Brixton for fine cocktails, good times and incredible food.
Treme is curating craft cocktails and bringing New Orleans flavor along with its delectable food menu. Above are the “High Adventure” cocktail with Monkey Shoulder Scotch, Orgeat, lemon juice, Golden Falernum, Mansinthe Absinthe and orange blossom water. Followed by The “Berry Special Cocktail” with Muddled Mint and Blackberry, Beefeater Gin, Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur, simple syrup, lemon juice and Scrappy's Lavender Bitters.
Pentimento Restaurant: Stony Brook
Pentimento has standout Italian cuisine and a cocktail menu that is distinguished and refined. Beverage Program Director David Marzano brings the flavors of Italy and beyond into his drinks with seamlessness and finesse. His cocktails were in high acclaim at the 1st Annual NY Cocktail Expo.
Award winning mixologist Mark Seaman turned heads at the 1st Annual NY Cocktail Expo and was sought after for the newly opened Flight of Patchogue. The restaurant’s theme is based on tasting flights of food and drink. Your palate will never be the same after imbibing one of this bartender’s creative cocktail conceptions.
Blackbird’s Kitchen & Cocktails: Wantagh
An American Restaurant serving seasonal small plates & artfully crafted cocktails, Blackbird’s Kitchen & Cocktails partners with local farms & suppliers to bring quality to its guests. The “Jude Law and Semester Abroad” cocktail has Bulleit Rye, Copper & Kings Brandy, Maraschino Liqueur, Dolin Vermouth Rouge and is a riff on a Manhattan with Long Island sensibilities.
Located in the heart of Huntington Village, Vauxhall has become a sought after hot spot. From their delicious cocktails, craft beer and burgers, Cocktail Program Manager and Bartender Chris C. Burke is always concocting something new to keep taste buds soaring.
Salt & Barrel: Bay Shore
This Oyster bar is making waves in Bay Shore for top notch cocktails. Salt & Barrel is all about good vibes, great service and clean local food. If you love oysters and cocktails, you can’t miss out on this amazing find.
Morrison’s has a great reputation for food and drink pairings. Their “Swine Creek” cocktail created by Jon Szklut is a bacon fat washed Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, aged with cognac, soaked in toasted pecans, toasted cloves, maple, cinnamon, Angostura bitters, grated nutmeg and garnished with a stick of bacon.
Frank’s Steaks: Rockville Centre
A Zagat rated restaurant for over 22 years, Frank’s Steaks makes a casual fine dining experience a true pleasure. Bartender Jessie Leigh makes a “Lead Sled Old Fashioned” with blood orange juice, bada bing cherry juice, Angostura bitters and simple syrup topped with Widow Jane Bourbon.
American Beauty Bistro: Massapequa
Newcomers American Beauty Bistro Bar are part of the blossoming cocktail scene on LI bringing crafted drinks to thirsty Long Islanders. Not only serving tasty tapas but also tout that they have the best burger you’ll ever try. I’m down to put that to the test along with a few more dranksss!
Parlay Gastropub: Rockville Centre
Parlay has become one of the top nightlife and brunch spots in RVC. With over 40 taps of craft beer and awesome upscale gastropub food. Beverage Director Ronny Jaramillo has brought life into their cocktails adding the icing on the cake to one of Long Island’s best destination spots for memorable good times.
Mesita: Rockville Centre
Mesita adds their own brand of specialty cocktails. Margaritas, Mojitos and Sangrias also create a lavish selection of libations while wine is tapped with a process that retains excellent freshness. Pair them up with their excellent tacos, skirt steaks and incredible Mexican food.
Verde Wine Bar & Restaurant: Deer Park
Specializing in Italian cuisine and contemporary mixology, “Verde” is a warm, rustic hangout serving polished Italian fare complemented by American wines & spirits. The “Al Wadi” cocktail is made with Queens Courage Gin, lemon verbena tea and pomegranate molasses.
Bar Louie: Massapequa
Bar Louie is an urban bar known for their signature martinis, cocktails and dynamic beer selection.
