Colbert Convinces Bill Clinton To Join Twitter, Sends First Tweet For Him (VIDEO)

Colbert Forces Bill Clinton To Join Twitter

Monday's "Colbert Report" featured Stephen Colbert interviewing President Bill Clinton, and after a discussion about Clinton's goals in founding the Clinton Global Initiative, Colbert got to the most important part of the night: Setting up a Twitter account for the ex-president.

Colbert asked him about his online use, and whether he used Facebook or Twitter. (This is the guy who sent a total of two emails while in office, after all.)

He confirmed that he does use Facebook, but has not yet jumped on the Twitter bandwagon. "What if you tweet and nobody tweets back? There's nothing worse than a friendless tweeter," Clinton said.

That was all Colbert, an avid Twitter user himself, needed to get permission to set up a Twitter account for Clinton. But since @BillClinton was taken, he was forced to go with the next best option: @PrezBillyJeff.

Clinton dictated his own first tweet:

The account has since amassed over 35,000 followers since the interview was conducted on April 6 and aired on April 8.

Check out the rest of the interview below, in which Colbert asks Clinton about why he started the Clinton Global Initiative, and accuses him of possibly fooling Stephen with a Jedi Mind Trick.
