Colbert Puts Marcus Bachmann's Gay Therapy To Test With Heterosexual Accountability Buddy (VIDEO)

WATCH: Colbert Brings Heterosexual Accountability Buddy To Dan Savage Interview

Staying straight is a lot like staying married: you have to work at it. At least, that's what Marcus Bachmann, husband of Michele Bachmann, seems to think.

His clinic, Bachmann & Associates Inc., was recently outed as offering therapy services to help homosexual men become straight. Apparently, the therapy involves praying, reading the bible and talking about boobs.

On Tuesday night's "Report," Colbert gave Bachmann his due, defending his faith-based counseling practices: "Christianity is the best way to cure gayness. Just get on your knees, take a swig of wine and accept the body of a man into your mouth."

Colbert went on to discuss one particular aspect of the therapy, the "heterosexual accountability buddy." The buddy is essentially another straight guy you take with you to situations where your own straight-ness might be put in jeopardy, such as a gay wedding, or in Colbert's case, an interview with Dan Savage.

Describing the sex columnist as "weapons-grade gay," Colbert steeled himself for the interview by bringing along his own heterosexual accountability buddy, Tad (played by comedian, writer and long-time Colbert collaborator Paul Dinello).

This was one of those perfect "Colbert Report" episodes, filled with absurd moments and scathing satire that ultimately builds to an interview that is equal parts funny, thought-provoking and controversial. Savage's thoughts on marriage, gay or straight, should spark much debate about what it is, or what it should be, that makes a marriage a marriage.
