Colbert Mourns DOMA's Death (VIDEO)

WATCH: Colbert Slams Supreme Court Over DOMA Ruling

Stephen Colbert opened Wednesday's "Colbert Report" with his reaction to the Supreme Court ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act, which was found unconstitutional.

"The Supremes really screwed the pooch here, which I assume is legal now," he joked.

"If DOMA is unconstitutional, that means the Constitution is gay," he said. "It was written by a bunch of dudes in tights in the City of Brotherly Love. And they called for a legislature that's bicameral? That's a bit curious."

Watch Colbert's reaction to the end of DOMA above, and below, watch Slate's Emily Bazelon explain the significance of the DOMA decision, as well as the Voting Rights Act.
