The Colbert Report's 'The Word' Addresses 'Undocumented Shackled Mothers' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Colbert Satirizes Reasons For (And Benefits Of) Shackling Undocumented Mothers During Birth

The Colbert Report

On last night's episode of "The Colbert Report", Stephen Colbert addressed the legality of chaining undocumented women as they give birth, a topic reported last week by HuffPost LatinoVoices.

In his segment called 'The Word' (starts at 1:30 in video), Colbert told his audience that if America is to solve its immigration problem, we must look inside ourselves and "scoop out any vestige of human kindness -- especially when it comes to pregnant women."

Staying true to his emblematic satire, Colbert said that all women -- not just undocumented women -- need to be restrained during birth, because they possess "super strength and are mean as a snake."

He cheekily decried the fact that this practice was "only legal in 36 states."
