Coldplay To Headline Charity Concert To Fight Child Poverty

A night of music and laughter is sure to draw a crowd -- especially when it's hosted by Coldplay.

The band released a statement yesterday saying it will host a charity concert and comedy performance called Under 1 Roof, benefitting Kids Company, a nonprofit that combats child poverty in the UK.

The band will headline Under 1 Roof on Dec. 10 at London’s O2 Arena, Digital Journal reports. The show will also feature Tinie Tempah, Emeli Sandé, Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge for a night of both musical and comedic acts.

“Kids Company is a phenomenal organization that is very close to our hearts," Coldplay said in their statement. "We hope that people get behind the event to raise as much money for Kids Company as possible. On our side, we can promise anyone that buys a ticket that they’ll be part of a very special night.”

This isn't the band's first gig for charity. According to Look to the Stars, Coldplay teamed up with R.E.M. frontman Michael Stripe to release a single whose profit would aid Hurricane Katrina victims, and has donated items to be auctioned for proceeds toward Cancer Active.

The band is also known to give 10 percent of its earnings to charity, according to Digital Journal.

The general sale of the tickets for Under 1 Roof will begin at 9:00 am, Friday, Nov. 25 via gigsandtours.com and ticketmaster.co.uk.
