Coldplay's first single in more than a year will appear on the new "Hunger Games" soundtrack.

"Atlas" is debut on Aug. 26 and marks the band's first time contributing a new song to a film, according to a press release from Lionsgate and Republic Records.

"I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film," said "Catching Fire" director Francis Lawrence. "Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can't wait to share this music with audiences around the world."

So far, details surrounding the "Catching Fire" soundtrack -- slated for release prior to the movie's Nov. 22 debut -- have been scarce, meaning the Coldplay announcement marks a high-profile start to the film's music. We can surely expect more where that comes from, as the first "Hunger Games" soundtrack, "Songs from District 12 and Beyond," boasted a lineup that included Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, Kid Cudi, Maroon 5 and The Decemberists.

Still, don't expect a full-on Coldplay resurgence. The band said last November that it will at least take a break from touring for three years.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post indicated that Bolivian singer-songwriter Santiago Laserna and We The Kings frontman Travis Clark were said to have recorded songs for "Catching Fire." A Lionsgate representative confirmed to The Huffington Post that neither artist will appear in the movie.
