'South Park' Rewrites The National Anthem For Colin Kaepernick

The animated series is tackling the protest head-on.

Get ready, folks.

South Park” returns with 10-new episodes Wednesday night ― and just in case viewers were wondering whether the show would still tackle controversial issues in its 20th season, the sneak peek below gives a pretty good answer:

The song above is in reference to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has refused to stand during the national anthem in protest, most recently before the team’s Monday match-up against the Los Angeles Rams.

Kaepernick started his protest during football’s preseason, telling reporters in late August that he’s “not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color.”

Fellow NFL players have joined him in his protest as the NFL’s season officially kicked off this week.
