It's not that college basketball hasn't seen talented crops of freshmen through the years: There was the famed class of 1979-80, which featured Isiah Thomas, Ralph Sampson, Dominique Wilkins and James Worthy. Two years later, along came Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing and Chris Mullin. And yet the 2013-14 class might be even better -- certainly the most hyped -- as headlined by Kansas' Andrew Wiggins, who has been billed by some as the next LeBron James.
Gone are the days when teams laden with seniors ruled college basketball in March. Kentucky features a record six McDonald's All-Americans this season, including Julius Randle, who could very well be the top overall pick in June's draft. As with anyone this early in his career, current performance is no guarantee of future results, but here are the other top freshmen already making names for themselves.
