D'Avonte Meadows, Colorado First Grader, Suspended For Singing 'I'm Sexy And I Know It' Lyrics

First Grader Suspended For Singing 'Sexy And I Know It'

Six-year-old D'Avonte Meadows, a boy, was suspended for three days from Aurora Elementary School after singing a line from the song to a female student while standing in a school lunch line, according to ABC News.

Meadows' mother told 7 News that she believes the child's suspension is not a case of sexual harassment.

"I could understand if he was fondling her, looking up her skirt, trying to look in her shirt. That, to me, is sexual harassment," Stephanie Meadows, D'Avonte’s mother told 7 News. "I'm just, I'm floored. They're going to look at him like he's a pervert. And it's like, that’s not fair to him."

This is the second incident where D'Avonte was disciplined for using the lyric: Last month he did a "booty shake" in front of the same girl's face.

This isn't the first time a student has been suspended for sexual harassment over a flippant remark. Just last year, a 9-year-old boy was suspended from his elementary school in North Carolina after calling his teacher "cute."
