Comedian George Lopez Talks About Idolizing The Late Freddie Prinze And Being Snubbed By Erik Estrada (VIDEO)

George Lopez doesn't like turning away autograph seekers and, for that, the comedian credits a chance encounter long ago with former CHiPs' star Erik Estrada.

Lopez had idolized Estrada until that fateful day in the 1970s when the brash TV actor dissed him in front of friends by denying him an autograph.

"It didn't help that Erik Estrada blew me off," said the funnyman, only half joking, in this excerpt from a recent episode of LaFusion. "He became the target of years of ridicule and it will continue."

Lopez also spoke of his admiration for the late comedian Freddie Prinze, the star of "Chico and the Man." Prinze, the son of a Puerto Rican mother and Hungarian father, committed suicide in 1977. Lopez got to know Prinze's widow and son, the actor Freddie Prinze, Jr.

"Seven years ago, I became friends with his wife and Freddie, Jr., and for my birthday she gave me the key chain to his Corvette," Lopez recalled.

But, at the urging of a psychic, he stopped carrying the key chain around.

"It felt a little bit like it had some energy to it," he said. "I put it away. It's in my room by my bed. I listen to psychics because I'm Latino."

Lopez lobbied to get Freddie Prinze a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which occurred in 2004.
