This Typewriter Prints Only Comic Sans, The 'World's Most-Hated Font'

World's 'Most-Hated Font' Gets Its Own Typewriter

It’s been called the planet’s “most-hated font.” But that hasn’t stopped one artist from creating a typewriter that types only in the reviled and ridiculed Comic Sans.

May we introduce Jesse England’s “Sincerity Machine.”

On his website, England explained that to create his machine, he used a laser engraver to etch Comic Sans letters out of acrylic before gluing them to strikers on a vintage typewriter.

"While making [the machine], I thought a lot about the Comic Sans typeface and how ridiculed it is," England says in the video. "But it is also a mark of sincerity for those who do not have graphic design experience. I’m not particularly enamored with this font, but I don’t think it deserves the flak it gets."

Since being uploaded to YouTube last week, netizens have been falling over themselves with excitement.

“When I saw this video, my first reaction was ‘HOW MUCH? TAKE MY MONEY!!!! I MUST HAVE ONE,’” exclaimed a Jezebel writer after seeing England’s invention.

“I love it. I LOVE it,” enthused one YouTuber Sunday. “I too hate Comic Sans but that doesn’t take away from how much I love it.”

Other reactions to England's typewriter, however, weren't all so positive.

“I’m going to destroy this machine,” wrote one disgruntled YouTube user this week.

“I want to rip my eyes out and then throw them at you,” said another.
