CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE and CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO wait in the "10 Items or Less" checkout lane in their local supermarket. The line moves quickly. CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE accidentally knocks a Popular Magazine off the rack, picks it up and scans it.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: Who's that? She's pretty.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: That's Lupita......Lupita...
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: M'Shongo! Right. She's in those Lancome ads now.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: She's stunning.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: She is.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO leans toward CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE, and tries to look more closely at the article. CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE hands CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO the Popular Magazine. CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO scans it.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: Where is she from? Is she American?
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: I think she's African.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: She looks African. I'm glad she got here and she's safe.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: Safe?
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: You know. All of the trouble that happens over there. What is happening in Africa now?
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: I guess it depends on who you ask.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: You sound cynical.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: What do you mean?
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: Well for one thing...I mean, look at this Lupita woman.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: What about her?
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: She's here from Africa, having a good life. Give us credit. America does some good things.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO makes a two-handed mea culpa gesture.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE (CONT'D): And what about those kidnapped African girls?
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: Whatever happened to them?
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE: I think we sent troops to rescue them. I'm not sure.
CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO: Right. I think I read something about that. Looks like your turn.
CONCERNED AMERICAN ONE and CONCERNED AMERICAN TWO move up, along with the line.
