I see a lot of similarity between being successful with music and being successful at work.
I've always had a passion for music--singing, jamming with bands, and, most recently, songwriting.
The same skills of teamwork, time management and discipline that apply to songwriting and working with a band also apply at work, especially when you are overseeing a team.
At my employer, Accenture, we formed a band as part of a special-interest group initiative. I started this group, approaching my boss with the idea, and then we recruited other people at our office who were interested.
