Connie Britton Cast In ABC's New 'Nashville' Drama

Tami Taylor is moving to Nashville! After ending her stint on FX's "American Horror Story," Connie Britton has booked a lead role in ABC's new drama pilot "Nashville," confirms TV Guide.

The family drama will focus on the Nashville music scene, and yes, Britton will be singing.

The former "Friday Night Lights" star will play Rayna, a country star whose latest album underperforms on the charts. Forced by her label, Rayna stages the ultimate career comeback when she teams up with Nashville's brightest rising star Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere.

Meanwhile, Eric Close will play her husband, with Powers Boothe and Jonathan Jackson will round out the cast.

Britton will have one busy year. Not only will she have to shoot the "Nashville" pilot, but the "Friday Night Lights" movie is closer than ever to becoming a reality. Showrunner Jason Katims is about done with the script, and now, all he needs to get all of the show's actors on board to do the film. Paging Coach and Mrs. Coach: You're needed on the field.
