'Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band' Donate New Documentary To Benefit Nonprofits on Causecast

We are excited to announce our new Causecast Documentary Film Series and are honored to debut it with such an amazing band. "One Of My Kind - The Story of Conor Oberst and The Mystic Vallley Band," traces the group's ever-growing bond as friends and collaborators. The 60-minute musical journey around the world features footage from Tepoztlan, Mexico where they recorded their first album, Conor Oberst, their worldwide tour in 2008, and the making of Outer South in El Paso, TX.

This release is one of the first of many free exclusive online screenings and downloads that Causecast will be releasing. You might be asking yourself, "How does a free movie have anything to do with causes?"

Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band are making history as they use technology, music and film to not only entertain their fans, but to raise money for numerous causes on Causecast. Unlike any film release before, Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band have donated the documentary to be downloaded and viewed for FREE, in the hope that viewers like you will make a donation to one of the many nonprofits on Causecast. Donations are 100% tax-deductible and Causecast does not take a fee, so pay it forward because you don't have to spend a dime to download or watch this film.

The film will be available as a free stream or HD download on APRIL 15th exclusively on CAUSECAST.org and select partner sites. Additionally, Causecast.org, IFC.com, The Huffington Post and Myspace IMPACT will each feature bonus outtakes, trailers and live acoustic performances from the film.

When Conor Oberst fled the mid-western winter for Tepoztlan, Mexico in early 2008, his plan was to record a collection of songs in beautiful surroundings with some friends. The band he put together for the recording sessions - which were all done in an adobe house half way up a mountain - was released last year as Conor Oberst, his first non-Bright Eyes release since 2001. The band then took to the road as Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band, named for Valle Místico where the recording took place.

Watch this exclusive Huffington Post 2-minute clip from the film of the band members talking about Valle Místico and how things just began to "snowball" to where they've come today.

"Guitar-tech Phil Schaffart began informally video taping Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band in Tepoztlan, Mexico in January of 2008.Over the next 12 months Schaffart, when he wasn't tuning guitars, captured hours and hours of footage as the band traveled and performed around the world. By December the band was back in the recording studio, this time outside of El Paso, TX, making their new album "Outer South." Schaffart not only filmed these recording sessions but also sat down with the Mystic Valley Band for a series of interviews to discuss making music, life on the road and the year that was 2008. The 60-minute presentation is the results of his efforts. The Mystic Valley Band would like to thank Causecast for their help in making this viewing possible."
