Cop Keeps Job After He's Accused Of Ripping Off Rape Victim's Clothes

A New York City police officer will keep his job at the department even though he admitted to wrongdoing after a rape victim said he tried to rip her clothes off.

NYPD Officer Lukasz Skorzewski, 31, and Lt. Adam Lamboy, 44, pleaded guilty to departmental charges of prohibited conduct after a 24-year-old college student told authorities the pair went drinking with her after questioning her about a rape case, according to the New York Daily News.

The incident occurred in July 2013, when Skorzewski and Lamboy flew out to Seattle to interview the woman about her allegations that she was raped in a Union Square apartment the previous month.

After the interview, the woman said the trio went out drinking at several bars over a nine-hour period.

That night, the woman said, she spent the night at Skorzewski's hotel room.

In the morning, Skorzewski allegedly crawled into bed with the woman.

"He was insistent on feeling me up. . . . He tried to work his way up my pants, I pushed his hand away,” she told the News.

Under the plea agreement, which still has to be approved by Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, Skorzewski was docked 30 vacation days and suspended for 10 days without pay. He was also demoted from his position as detective.

The story comes after officers have been repeatedly spared criminal charges for alleged misconduct. Just last week, Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Missouri police officer who killed unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown, was cleared of civil rights charges in the shooting.

That move came after a jury declined to indict him for the killing and after NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo was cleared in the chokehold death of Eric Garner.
