Costa Concordia Disaster: Cruise Advertisements Placed Next To Story In Swedish Paper

Poorly Placed Advertisement Probably Got Somebody Fired

What's the worst place you could think to put a cruise advertisement this week? Perhaps next to a story about the Costa Concordia, the luxury liner that sank off the Italian coast in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday, killing at least six people.

Someone at Sweden's daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter might be out of a job after this mishap, spotted by Copyranter on Monday:

Hypervocal picked up on the trend, pointing out several other instances -- whether the result of editorial oversights or poorly targeted algorithms -- in which media were busted advertising cruises in conjunction with the Costa Concordia tragedy.

UPDATE: New evidence has cast doubt on the original report. Another photo suggests that the ad was not placed directly next to the coverage of the disaster.
