Philip Garner of Garner’s Garden is re-vitalizing skin with this simple ingredient

If you’re one of the millions of people who struggle with keeping their skin balanced and clear look no further. I spoke with Phillip Garner who is the creator of the popular pure organic skincare product brand, Garner's Garden about your options. Perhaps oil cleansing may be your savior. Check out what the man who is creating the best must have skin products in 2017 had to say.

Applying oil to your skin is so taboo to many people, but those that think that are missing out on the one of the major key components when it comes to healthy skin care – keeping your skin moisturized.

What happens when you run water over your hands or body and then dry off? Your skin becomes instantly dry. Now when you add in the use of soap, your skin becomes extremely dry. Water and soap are the two main culprits of what we would call, “bad skin.” When your skin is dry, your skin becomes hard and discolored. But what happens when your skin is properly moisturized? Your skin becomes healthy looking and has a natural glow. Now if you use a proper moisturizer, you will be able to effectively preserve your skin for decades to come.

Oil cleansing method, what the heck is that? Commonly referred to as the acronym, OCM. Don’t I need soap to cleanse my skin properly? Won’t the oil clog my pores? We will touch on all of these most common questions.

The oil cleansing method is essentially, cleansing your skin with oil instead of using soap. We all think soap is the solution to cleaning our bodies, in some instances it is, but for our facial skin, it is not the best method. Soap is very harsh on the skin and between the soap and water; they will both strip away every single drop of oil that your body naturally creates on its own. So when you strip away your natural occurring oils, what happens next? Your body reacts by overcompensating oil production, in turn, your skin starts to go work overtime in trying to produce enough oil for your skin to function how it is suppose to function. This is why a lot of people have oily skin, because their skin has been stripped of everything that is good for it.

On the flipside, some people have severely dry skin that can be attributed to applying products that contain the different variations of alcohol to their skin. Any type of alcohol can be compared to a nuclear bomb – it will annihilate the good and bad things that your skin needs the most to survive. Please read your labels, if your products contain alcohol, coloring, fragrances, or any type of chemical with a number in it, do yourself a favor and throw it away immediately!

For those of you that consider yourself to have a “normal” skin type, then you have to everything in your power to keep your skin balanced and toned. This is where the use of oils for cleansing and moisturizing your skin becomes a huge factor. Key word for this skin type is, “preservation.” The majority of readers out there try their best in keeping a scheduled, routine regimen for their skin, but they are still experiencing problems such as acne, blackheads, and dark marks that will not disappear – so what is the solution? To put it simple, it is oil. The right blends of oils is like liquid gold for your skin. Let’s touch on cleansing your skin.

What do you use to cleanse your skin? Some form of soap, right? It was ingrained into our heads that in order to clean your skin thoroughly and keep dirt, bacteria, acne, and other skin conditions at bay, you must use soap. This is so far from the truth and the marketers, who sold you on this, have done their jobs well. So well in fact, that we are terrified to cleanse with anything other than the use of soap. Soap helps me get rid of the dirt, bacteria, and acne – right? Sure, it does, but at the expense of the one thing your skin needs the most, moisture. You have to remember something that is very important - oil dissolves oil. Also, oil helps collect dirt particles so that they can be easily removed/lifted from your skin. Also oil protects your skin from water wicking away the oils your body naturally creates. When using the proper oils to cleanse your skin, only good things can happen. Trust in the oil!

Think about this: why does your skin create oil? The simplest answer is, because your skin needs it to function properly. Imagine how your skin would look and feel if it did not have a drop of oil on it for a day, a week, a month – what would your skin look like? Not meaning to be graphic, but you would look like a corpse. That natural glow that some people have, is because of the oil that you naturally create and/or apply to your skin. Don’t you want strangers to approach you and say, “My goodness! Look at your skin! You look so radiant and glowing – wow!”

Using the correct oils is imperative. You must learn which oils are best for your facial skin. There are certain oils that are more than likely clog your pores, whereas other oils are a perfect match to the oils that your skin already produces. We call this scale, the comedogenic rating of oils. The best and most complete rating scale that I have found useful comes from this website. Fortunately, Garner’s Garden understands that not all oils are created equally, especially when it comes to applying them to your skin. Therefore, Garner’s Garden has created two products that you can use to start your oil cleansing journey to healthy skin.

The two products we are referring to are the antibacterial facial cleanser and the activated charcoal facial cleanser. Both products have the same base, but the second product has the added benefits of the activated charcoal contained in it. Here are the benefits of the ingredients used in the products – they are astonishing!

There are a variety of unique ingredients found in Garner’s Garden antibacterial facial cleansers, such as: food grade H2O2, witch hazel (alcohol free), aloe vera, neem oil, hempseed oil, safflower oil, and the optional activated charcoal. The products also contain therapeutic grade essential oils that have their own powerful benefits. Just focusing on the natural oils used, you will notice that they are all zero (0) on the comedogenic rating scale. This means, that there is virtually no likely chance of the oils clogging your pores. The most powerful oil contained in the products is neem oil. This oil is very special because it helps with a host of skin problems ranging from acne, to relieving the symptoms of eczema – this oil is one of the best oils you can use on your skin.

Anti-aging: Neem oil contains high level of antioxidants which protect the skin from environmental damage. It also contains carotenoids which provide high antioxidants that defend the skin against age promoting free radicals.

For Acne: Neem oil is ideal for acne prone skin because it clears up pimples and removes bacteria that cause break outs. Neem oil contains aspirin like compound which removes the acne causing bacteria from the skin. It also helps to reduce redness and inflammation.

Relieves Symptoms Of Ezcema: Neem oil helps to relieve eczema symptoms but cannot cure the root cause of eczema. Since neem is particularly high in Vitamin E and fatty acids, it quickly penetrates the outer layer of the skin restoring the protective barrier and prevents moisture loss. Its ability to reduce inflammation and heal abrasion soothes eczema irritation.

It’s pretty ingenious how Garner’s Garden includes witch hazel in their formula for their oil cleansing method. The reason being, your skin produces it’s own natural oils. Mixing the oils contained in the cleanser with your naturally produced oils may cause you to have too much oil on your skin. However, the witch hazel contained in the cleanser actually helps, remove excess oil from your skin. Witch hazel is a natural astringent; therefore it helps remove excess oil from your skin. This is the reason why Garner’s Garden included this ingredient actually helps when you are ready to wash the cleanser from your face. Actually, Garner’s Garden has created a second step to their oil cleansing method which is using a witch hazel based toner to remove the excess oil and dirt that is left behind on your skin – perfect!

Another ingredient used, is the food grade H2O2. Some of you may be familiar with this ingredient commonly known has hydrogen peroxide. This is a natural occurring element is found all throughout nature. Some examples are rainwater and even your own body creates its H2O2 when “…your immune system is activated in response to bacteria, large amounts of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) are produced by certain cells to fight the infection.. “ (source). The reason why it is contained in the facial cleanser because of the bacteria and other harmful substances cannot live in an oxygenated environment. So basically, the H2O2 reinforces the neem oil, essential oils, and other ingredients to provide you the healthiest and bacteria free skin as possible.
