Mom Left Kids In Hot Car While 'Getting A Wax Job': Cops

A Kentucky woman faces wanton endangerment and drug charges after police say she left her toddler sons in her car while she went to get a Brazilian wax.

Courtney Kippes, 22, told police that she was "OK with leaving the kids" while she was "getting a wax job" at a Louisville salon.

Witnesses called police Wednesday after they heard the boys, ages 2 and 3, screaming in the car. The windows were cracked and local business owners were able to remove the children from the car, WLKY reports.

It was 84 degrees outside by the time police arrived. The children, who were "hot to the touch and very sweaty," were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, according to police.

Officers who searched the car also found prescription drugs and paraphernalia, and Kippes was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The Courier-Journal reports that the drug was codeine.

The Smoking Gun reports that cops found a crushed up pill and a “snorting straw” in the car. The website reports that the woman's Facebook page, which appears to have been removed, listed her occupation as "model."

Kippes remains in Jefferson County Jail on $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court May 30.
