A clean and green environment is huge priority to a craft brewer -- a happy Earth leads to happy hops, which leads to happy taste buds. So today -- Earth Day -- take a trip to Boulder for the 19th annual Microbreweries for the Environment benefit at the Boulder Theater, which raises cash for local environmental causes like the CU Environmental Center, Flatirons Neighborhood Farm, the GrowHaus and Sprot City Farms. Since its inception in 1993, the benefit has raised over $120,000.
Nineteen of Colorado's premiere craft and microbreweries will be serving their newest and most award-winning beers for only $2 per pint -- so you can enjoy some beer and feel good about supporting the environment with each sip.
Breweries in attendance include Avery Brewing Company, Boulder Beer Company, Breckinridge Brewery, Great Divide, Left Hand, New Belgioum, Odell, Oskar Blues, Twisted Pine and many more. And the night of cheap pints and goodwill towards Mother Earth will be accompanied by live music from Pete Kartsounes Band with their poignant blend of blues and folk as well as Head for the Hills playing their signature brand of acoustic bluegrass.
The Microbreweries for the Environment benefit is a carbon-neutral event -- attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, ride a unicycle, take the bus, invent some sort of teleportation device or at least carpool to help with the zero-waste focus of this local beer celebration.
