Craig Meis Also Suggested He Knew Powerful People During 2007 Police Encounter

A June incident at Highline Lake State Park wasn't the first time a law enforcement officer documented statements from Mesa County Commissioner Craig Meis suggesting he knew powerful people.

In an internal Grand Junction Police Department e-mail obtained by The Daily Sentinel, Police Sgt. Lonnie Chavez wrote to his superiors about a "disappointing" encounter with Meis in September 2007, when officers were called to a loud-party complaint at Meis' house, 683 Roundup Drive, on the Redlands.
