Crayola Asks Fans To Help Name New Crayon, Twitter Responds Colorfully

There are a lot of suggestions for white and orange shades. Hmmm.

Crayola is asking fans to help name its new crayon and, naturally, Twitter is quick on the draw.

On Thursday, Crayola announced that it will retire the classic yellow crayon, Dandelion, from its 24-pack. Then, on Friday, the company revealed via Facebook that it plans to replace Dandelion with a new color.

The color will be part of “the blue family,” though the exact shade is under wraps until May. The company also said once the new color is revealed, it will invite fans to help name the hue sometime in the summer.

Shortly after Crayola made this announcement, the hashtag #NewCrayonColors began to trend on Twitter. Although the proposals arrived a few months early — and most users didn’t actually offer names for a blue crayon — the responses are pretty colorful.
