Cronut Knockoff Recipe: You Can Make Them At Home! (VIDEO)

Everyone deserves to try this donut-croissant hybrid.

We're sure that by now you've at least heard of the cronut. If not, be prepared to have your mind blown. The cronut is a genius combination of our two favorite pastries: the donut and the croissant -- and it's the latest pastry fad to hit New York City. So if you don't live in the city, you're definitely missing out. But chances are that even if you do call New York home, you haven't had a chance to get your hands on a cronut either.

Just as with anything else in the city, when there's a buzz, there's a mob. People wait hours in line to buy these pastries -- and are are only allowed two per customer. We believe that they're more than worth the hassle, but we'd still rather avoid the charade and make them ourselves.

If you think a New York line is less intimidating than making croissants (which it just might be), you're forgetting all about the magic of Pillsbury crescent rolls. They make frying cronuts happen in no time. Watch the video by Serious Eats above and see how it's done.
