CNN Schedule Changes: 'Crossfire' Gets Slot, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper Get New Shows

CNN Announces Big Shakeup

CNN announced a series of changes to its schedule on Tuesday, adding new hours for Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer and giving "Crossfire" an early evening timeslot.

The revived series will debut on September 16 at 6:30 PM, winnowing Blitzer's "The Situation Room" from two hours to 90 minutes. But Blitzer will also host the network's 1 to 2 PM hour, something he has been doing frequently in recent weeks.

In addition, Cooper will host "AC360 Later" at 10 PM from Monday through Thursday. That's usually where the repeat of his 8 PM hour has lived, though it had been clear for some months that CNN chief Jeff Zucker was not going to let that situation stand. The network has tried several different experiments out in the slot, but its most recent incarnation, which saw Cooper host a nightly panel about the George Zimmerman trial, was a definite hit. CNN said Cooper will have a "provocative and informed panel conversation" on his new show.
