Update: The New York Daily News' Ken Lovett, reporting from a Second Amendment rally on the steps of the state capitol, had tweeted a photograph of a protestor who appeared to be hanging an effigy of Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Lovett was subsequently informed that the figure -- a sad, ambiguously assembled marionette, which on close inspection did seem to lack a noose -- was in fact a "puppet." He tweeted an apology.

A protestor at an anti-gun control rally in Albany hung an effigy of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Tuesday, reports the New York Daily News' Ken Lovett.
The event, which drew thousands of gun advocates to the state capital, is in protest of newly enacted state gun control laws that limit the capacity of ammunition magazines and require those who own formerly legal semi-automatic weapons to register them. Among the protestors were police officers and second amendment activists, many of whom traveled to Albany by bus.
Prior to the start of the rally, NRA board member Thomas King said he would not be in attendance because of the "contentious and threatening" nature of their rhetoric.
"Let all these other groups go out and do what they want to do, because they don't want to listen anyway," King, who also heads the New York Rifle and Pistol Organization, told The Daily News ahead of the rally. "I just don't want to be a party to anything that may happen."
Rob Astorino, who is running against Cuomo for governor this year, and Donald Trump are among the keynote speakers scheduled for the rally.
